Coil were a prominent experimental industrial band from England founded by Jhonn Balance Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson.
The band performed at Convergence VII in New York City,NY in 2001. Their inclusion in the line-up was very controversial in the newsgroup as many people felt that allowing a large commercially successful act to headline would dilute the community nature of the event. There were also some concerns about the impact such a large-name band was having on the ticket price.
The band were also regular performers at Wave-Gotik-Treffen. In November of 2004, Jhonn Balance died and the band Coil ceased to exist.
