This was one of the most fearsome of threads, raging for months in the early 'nineties, ever-increasing in bitterness and abstraction. It involved not only alt.gothic but also crossposts with soc.bi and a few other groups. Quite a lot of anti-goth sentiment was expressed in these places, doubtless partly as a consequence of everybody's sheer frustration. It was salvaged, in the end, partly by the discovery of a mutual love of nutella.
